Terms:
Grief - The
response(s) we have to the loss of someone or something important to
us.
Bereavement -
The state or condition of being bereft
of someone or something.
Mourning - The
public display of grief.
Secondary Losses -
Losses which occur as a result of the primary
loss.
Postponement -
The conscious or uncounscious delay of emotional response to loss.
Disenfranchised Grief -
Grief that persons experience when they incur
a loss that is not or cannot be openly acknowleged, publicly mourned
or socially supported.
Stug Reactions -
Sudden
Temporary
Upsurges of
Grief. They are often
caused by anniversaries, birthdays, holidays or other special events
and occasions.
Bereavement Overload -
A feeling or sense of being overwhelmed when
many losses occur wthin a relatively short period of time.
